Even if you weren’t watching the Oscars last night, you’ve likely seen photos of Adam Sandler circulating the internet. In true Adam Sandler form, he can be seen in the audience wearing his signature outfit: oversized basketball shorts and hoodie.

When host Conan O’Brien poked fun at Sandler’s outfit, Sandler jokingly retorted: “I don’t care about what I wear or what I don’t wear. Did my snazzy gym shorts and fluffy sweatshirt offend you so much that you had to mock me in front of my peers?” The Saturday Night Live alum also added that everyone in the audience was welcome to join him for a game of basketball after the awards show.

Of course, this was all staged, but to be honest, Sandler has never been more relatable. I guarantee everyone sitting in LA’s Dolby Theater Sunday night wanted so badly to be in their favorite athleisure or sweats instead of a dress or tux they could barely move around in.

Think about it, there isn’t a better feeling in the world than when you get home from a fancy event and immediately change into your comfiest, two-sizes-too-big sweatshirt and yoga pants. Sandler just cut out the middleman. Smart move, really. And if you want to shop the look for your next engagment, we found Sandler’s Aviator Nation Hoodie ($175), Curry 11 Sneakers ($110, originally $160), and a similar pair of Adidas Pro Block Shorts ($16, originally $40).

This isn’t the first time Sandler has rocked gym-core to a snazzy event, though. Search any of his talk show appearances, like this one on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and you’ll see him donning a yellow oversized polo and red track pants. Or this interview with Jennifer Aniston promoting their movie Murder Mystery 2, where he elevated the look a bit with sports khaki pants, a tie-dye shirt, and an oversized hoodie with the hood up. (Aniston, by the way, is wearing a long black dress.)

It’s worth noting, Sandler can dress the part when he wants to. He attended SNL 50: The Anniversary Special in a black tuxedo complete with a bow tie. When asked about his unusual (for him) outfit, he told Variety: “Al Franken saw me in a sweatshirt last night and he was like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, alright, I don’t want to let Al down,’ so I put a tux on.”

So, the next time you’re meeting your friends for dinner and aren’t feeling it, pull a Sandler and rock your favorite gym ‘fit. (Unless Al Franken tells you not to, I guess.) Everyone will envy you, I promise. And on the off chance anyone says anything, just make a dramatic exit à la Sandler at the Oscars and go hang out with people who understand your desire to be cozy at all times.
