Lil Nas X Says He Turned Down A Taylor Swift Collab

Taylor Swift has collaborated with notable rappers throughout her career, including Ice Spice, Kendrick Lamar and almost, Lil Nas X.

In an interview with “E! News,” Lil Nas X revealed that Swift had previously asked him to work with her on a song.

“We were working on something,” he said. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”

While recalling the moment, Lil Nas X, who rose to fame with his hit single “Old Town Road,” said he didn’t “even want to talk about” the missed opportunity.

He added he’s very happy for all the success that Swift has seen in her career.

“I’m proud of my girl,” he said. “I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”

As for them working together one day? Lil Nas X said he hasn’t ruled that out.

“When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy,” he said.

Another artist he said he’d like to work with is Doechii. The rapper recently made history at the 2025 Grammys when she became the third woman to win the award for best rap album.

“My girl’s been doing her thing,” he said. “We’ve been about to get into the studio for like a year but we’ve never got to it. I just want to get out there.”

In April 2024, Swift released her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day.

Doechii’s most recent mixtape, “Alligator Bites Never Heal,” dropped in August 2024. In the last few weeks, her song “Anxiety” has sparked a viral dance trend that’s caught even Will Smith’s notice.
