Levi Alves McConaughey is ready for his close-up!
Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves McConaughey’s 16-year-old son stepped out with his parents to the premiere of his dad’s new thriller, “The Rivals Of Amziah King,” at the 2025 SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas, on March 10.
Levi wore a purple print shirt with khakis and a dark bomber jacket. His dad donned a black suit and tie while his model mom wore a loose-fitting Stella McCartney suit with eye-catching embellishments.
Levi is already following his Oscar-winning father’s footsteps into an acting career. The teen makes his onscreen debut in the upcoming film “Way of the Warrior Kid.”
While on the red carpet in Austin, Levi told People that McConaughey gave him priceless acting tips.
“I mean, he gave me a lot of advice, and he was able to mentor me in a couple different ways,” said Levi. “But I’d say the main thing for acting, and pardon my French, is no bulls— in your bones and own what you’re doing and make a choice regardless if that ends up being the right one or the wrong one — commit to it and know what you’re saying.”
Meanwhile, McConaughey himself shared with People some of the tips he gave his son, including how important it was to be willing to take risks with your craft.
“Don’t be afraid to make a fool of yourself — I did it plenty of times, and it’s a lot easier to go big and come back down to reality than it is to come in under and push it to more energy later,” said the “Dallas Buyers Club” star. “It’s a lot easier to go big, make a fool of yourself, get embarrassed and then bring it down to reality than it is to start with low energy and go, hey, we need more.”
McConaughey and Alves McConaughey, who tied the knot in 2012, are also parent to two younger kids, daughter Vida, 15, and son Livingston, 12.
McConaughey told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie in 2018 that he and Alves McConaughey share a similar parenting style.
“My wife and I have a similar moral bottom line. When kids try to good cop, bad cop ya, we’re on the same page,” he said. “If they try to play us, we give the same answer. We also have a lot of fun. We can shape them, but they are who they are.”
When the couple decided to allow Levi to launch his own Instagram account on his 15th birthday in July 2023, they filmed a selfie video explaining why.
“Hey, buddy, your mama’s a little nervous today about one of the gifts we are giving you,” McConaughey said in the video as Alves McConaughey nodded alongside him.
“Yes, we are allowing you, Levi, today on your 15th birthday, to join the social media universe,” the actor continued.
The couple acknowledged in their video that most of Levi’s friends have been on social media for years, adding that they were confident their son would conduct himself responsibly.
“I want to let all you all know, you’re getting a very cool and respectful young man in Levi McConaughey coming at you,” said McConaughey. “I hope you all can do your best to treat him the same way.”
The proud dad concluded the video by encouraging his son to have fun online.
“Levi, enjoy the adventure. Enjoy sharing your story, expressing yourself and what you put out there and the exchange you get with people out there,” McConaughey said, smiling.
